Every summer, we always are outside in the yard, swimming and bbq-ing.
We enjoy our time outside, and our pizza on the grill!
To start, I purchased a stone that can be used to make pizza on a grill.
I purchased the Kettle Pizza for grills found at Crate and Barrel.
Although pricey, this has been a staple in our home for over 4 years.
Penne Alla Vodka Pizza Recipe
PRINTABLE VERSION:
Ingredients:
– pre made dough from the pizzeria or any Italian market. We purchase ours from Uncle Giuseppe’s, which is reasonably priced, about $2.50.
– Penne Pasta, roughly 1/2 of the box
– Premade Vodka Sauce
– Flour
-Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
– Basil
Directions:
1. Prepare the penne pasta. Cook the pasta until al dente, drain and set aside.
2. Take your vodka sauce and pour it into a bowl, then pour the penne and mix.
3. Set aside, time to prep the pizza.
4. Make sure that your pizza dough is sitting out for about 30 minutes before.
5. Knead your dough with a dash or so with flour, creating a round, flat shape.
6. While the grill is on with the kettle pizza, you are going to use the pizza peel to transfer your pizza. Be sure to put flour on this before.
7. Place your dough on top of the pizza peel. Make sure the dough is evenly round and flat.
8. Put a thin layer of vodka sauce onto the pizza, not the penne!
9. Place a thin layer of shredded mozzarella on top of the vodka source, then add your penne.
10. Top off with shredded mozzarella and basil.
11. Place pizza on the stone and let it sit.
12. After 5 minutes p, use the pizza peel to rotate and pick up the pizza. You might have to keep checking on it.
13. Once you see that the pizza dough is brown and the cheese is melted, you can start to peel it off the stone.
& Viola!!
